Carol Ann O'Neil

Carol Ann O'Neil

Carol Ann O’Neil of Middle Sackville. Surrounded by the love of her family, Carol Ann died peacefully at home on March 16, 2019. She was born in Souris, P.E.I., to parents Annie and Leonard McCormack. She is survived by her husband and soulmate of 53 years, Fabian; her daughter and best friend, Lisa and Lisa’s fur baby Lily; daughter, Allyson; grandchildren, Elie, Echo and Jakob. She enjoyed a very close relationship with her three sisters and her brother who survive her: Helen Marie McCue (Ed deceased), John McCormack (Marilyn), Betsy Keenan (Ray) and Maureen Paquet (Alan). She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Isabell Carpenter McCormack. She was predeceased by her brother, Leonard and his wife Gail. She will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews who loved "Tie Tie's" sense of humour and her flare for decorating the house for every holiday. Some people just wake up in the morning and think "How can I make life better for someone else today?" That was our Carol Ann. She lived life joyfully, always humming a tune. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She found contentment in the simple things such as sitting on her porch swing watching the birds at the feeders, joining her pool friends for coffee after a swim, shopping or going to concerts with Lisa and travelling to a sunny climate with Fabe including several Anna McGoldrick bus tours. She treasured her regular visits to Prince Edward Island where she loved to walk on the beach listening to Anne Murray or Rita MacNeil on her playlist. She often said: "Heaven is a little closer when you are near the water.” Carol Ann was a spiritual person, devoted to her St. John Vianney Parish, where she was a choir member for many ears. She was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and received much comfort and contentment from music right up until her final hours. Carol Ann was a gracious lady, always humble and sincere. Her kind heart and generous soul has blessed so many people and we have been truly blessed to have her in our lives. We are grieving because we loved her so much. We believe every exit is an entrance to somewhere else. It gives us comfort to know that she has simply gone on ahead. Cremation has taken place. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23rd in St. John Vianney Church, Beaverbank Road, Lower Sackville. Father Owen Connolly presiding. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cobequid Community Health Centre, Room 2203, 40 Freer Lane, Lower Sackville, NS B4C OA2 or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Burial will take place in Souris, P.E.I., at a later date. The family is very grateful to Dr. Porter, Dr. Rayson, Palliative Care Service, VON and Northwood for their compassionate care and kindness in supporting us to keep Carol Ann at home.
