It is with great sadness that the family of the late Harold Franklyn Smith Sr. announce his passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the age of 74 years. Leaving to mourn his longtime companion Norma Childs of Kippens, three sons: Leonard Smith of St. George’s, Harold (Roslyn) Smith of Alberta, Bryan Smith of Ontario; six daughters: Bernadette (Eugene) Harnett of Stephenville, Valerie Smith of Alberta, Natalie (Joseph) Tobin of Ontario, Kimberly (Dermot) Samms of Alberta, Barbara (Andrew) Tobin of St. George’s and Rochelle (James) Tobin of St. George’s, 15 grandchildren: Colin, Brandi, Chad, Tara, Candace, Myra, Brandon, Brittany, Catherine, Jennine, James, D.J., Dillion, Andrew, Tedra; three great-grandchildren: Mikalah, Ethan, Bradley. As well as brothers, Aubrey and Terry Smith, sisters, Verna Lewis, Melvina Walters, Patsy Barker and Yvonne Vandergugten. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine (Ryan) Smith, parents, Beaton and Flora Smith and brother, Dave Smith. Friends may call at Russell’s Funeral Home, 57 Prince Rupert Drive, Stephenville on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, September 5th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Parish, West Street, Stephenville with interment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Hansen Highway, Stephenville. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
