John George Nicholson, 95, of Englishtown died August 31, 2009 at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital in Baddeck. He was a resident of Alderwood Rest Home.
Born in Jersey Cove, he was the son of the late Alex and Effie (Buchanan) Nicholson.
Johnny ran his own lumber business for many years.
He is survived by sons Clark, Englishtown, Alex, Fletcher’s Lake; Daughters Audrey (John Bethune), Toronto, Marie Gregoris (Joe), Toronto, Anna MacDonald (Greg), Halifax; Grandson Mitchell Gregoris, Toronto. He is also survived by sisters, Anna Bishop, New Minas, Margaret Butler, Sydney; Nieces Peggy Nicholson, Halifax, Karen Forbes, New York State; Nephews Martin (Elizabeth Snook) Bishop, Dartmouth, Cameron (Allison) Bishop, Ardrossan, Alberta and Great Niece Susan Bishop, Ardrossan Alberta.
He was predeceased by his wife Maria; Sister Catherine Forbes; Brothers Donnie and Murdoch.
Visitation for Johnny will take place on Wednesday September 2, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at St. Marks’s Presbyterian Church, Englishtown. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday September 3rd at 2 p.m. with Rev. Cameron Brett and Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating. Internment will take place at Bayview cemetery, Englishtown.
Donations in John’s memory may be made to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of the Sunset Funeral Co-operative Ltd., Margaree Valley.
