The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Sunday, June 5th, 2011, of Mary Nora MacKinnon (nee Barriault) of Grand River, P.E.I. aged 86 years. Nora was born on Sept. 16, 1924, in Egmont Bay, P.E.I. to her late parents Archibald and Lena (nee Arsenault) Barriault. Beloved wife of the late Norbert MacKinnon and loving mother of Rita (Joe) McNeill of Wellington Centre, Ed of Vancouver, B.C., Richard (Marion) of Kensington, Brian (Anne) of Fredericton, N.B., Karen MacArthur of Northam, Nelson (Nancy) of Grand River, Helena MacKinnon of Lower Sackville, N.S. & Shane (Lesley) of Grand River. Also lovingly remembered by 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Survived by her sisters Mary (Alyre) Gallant and Louise Gallant all of Summerside, brothers-in-law George MacKinnon and Rene Leroux and sister-in-law Vera Barrett. Besides her husband and parents, Nora was predeceased by her brother Ernest, sisters Rita and Edna, and several brothers and sisters-in-law. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Tuesday, June 7th , then to St. Patrick’s Church, Grand River for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Nora’s memory to the Grand River Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
