Hazel Jo-Ann (Stone) Hathaway, 72, New Glasgow, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Belmont on December 8, 1936, she was the youngest daughter of the late Percy and Gertrude (Brenton) Stone.
She graduated from Oxford High School. Hazel lived in Toronto for many years, where she was an accountant for a produce export company until her retirement when she moved back to Nova Scotia.
She is survived by her sisters, Helen Archibald, Truro; Erma (Gordon) Card, Aylesford; brother, Hector (Jessie) Stone, New Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; brothers, Herbert and Reginald.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday, September 4, followed by funeral service at 2 p.m., both in MacDiarmid's Funeral Home, 14067 Hwy. #4, Wentworth (447-2930).
Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital or Canadian Cancer Society.
