It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Jack Hayes announce his passing on June 2, 2011 at St. Luke’s Home. He was 79. Predeceased by his wife Connie on February 24, 2007. Left with fond memories are his step-children: Tim (Sharon), St. John’s, Brenda Sherlaw Ely (Bernie), Richmond Hill, Ontario, Jill Annette (Sid), Pickering, Ontario, Lois Chennel, Oshawa, Ontario. Jack will be sadly missed by his family in Ontario, including brothers: Thomas (Marilyn), Patrick (Nancy), Edward (Donna); sisters: Barbara King (the late Gilbert) and Marjorie Hayes. Jack will also be missed by his special friend Ena Butt, residents of St. Luke’s Cottages and the friends of Bill W., as well as a large circle of family and friends throughout Newfoundland and Ontario. Friends are invited to join us for a celebration of Jack's life at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday and Monday, June 5 and 6, from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Cremation to follow. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 7 at 11 a.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel with private interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Dr. H.
