GRANT: Jessie Alberta Grant of Swift Current, SK., passed away June 1, 2011 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, age 72 years. The funeral service was held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 4, 2011 from St. Stephen's Anglican Church with Reverend Jonathon Hoskin officiating. The pallbearers were Elwood Foss, John Foster, Don Reimer and Dick Warren. Interment took place at the Mount Pleasant Burial Park Cemetery, Swift Current. The deceased had no immediate family surviving, however she will be remembered by two very close friends, Ann Davis and Joan Foster. She was predeceased by her parents: Alexander and Mabel Grant; grandparents: Frank and Gertrude Ferguson; aunt and uncle: Myrtle and Jack McCallum and York and Genevieve Ferguson. Jessie Alberta was born in Swift Current, SK, August 22, 1938. She attended the Bissell School in the Vesper district as well as Public and High School in Swift Current. After graduating from High School, Jessie started working at the Health Region #1 Dental Division for children 12 and under. She was receptionist/dental assistant until the office closed in 1981. She was member of St. Stephen's Anglican Church and The Eastern Star. Jessie was an avid reader, particularly in the area of history and politics. She did a lot of sewing and friends also have some of her paintings. After Jessies father passed away in 1984, she continued to live with and care for her mother, until her passing in 2005 at the age of 95 years. Jessie had a soft spot in her heart for animals and wildlife. She particularly enjoyed the family of squirrels that took up residence in the evergreen tree in their front yard.
