Passed away peacefully on June 3rd, 2011 at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. Yvonne at the age of 102. Predeceased by her beloved husband Tony (2002), her parents, 2 brothers – Louis and Marcel Verot and by her sister Augustine, and by her grandson Peter. Loving mother of Louis (Loretta) Pirio, Marguerite Beliveau (Jim Smith), Yvette Taraviras (Peter), and Albert Pirio. Cherished grandmother of 6, and great-grandmother of 11. She is survived by her sister Solange Pirio; 2 sisters-in-law, Theresa Huitric (Ferd.) and Olga Pirio; many cousins in France and Saskatchewan, and numerous nieces and nephews in the United States and Canada. Yvonne was born on May 17, 1909 on the family farm in Radville, SK, to Eugene and Marie Verot. She was raised on the farm and attended St. Oliver Convent School in Radville. She worked on the farm and was married to Tony on November 24, 1934. They took over the family farm in 1944, where they raised their own family. After retirement, they moved to Moose Jaw in 1979 and they faithfully attended St. Joseph’s Church. They often travelled to California to visit family. Yvonne loved to bake buns and enjoyed gardening. The couple moved to Chateau St. Michael’s in the fall of 2001. Yvonne enjoyed playing cards and bingo with friends; crocheting, watching the soaps, reading, playing piano, and her many day trips to visit her family. The family would like to thank the staff of Chateau St. Michael’s for the special care they showed Yvonne. She very much enjoyed when they would serve breakfast to her on a tray in her room! Friends are invited to a Prayer Service at Parkview Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, June 8th, 2011 at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at St Joseph’s Church, 1064 3rd Ave. NW, Moose Jaw, on Thursday, June 9th, 2011 at 1:00 pm with interment to follow at Sunset Cemetery.
