
Leonard Sawyer
SAWYER, LEONARD - (1922-2011) - REXTON, NB - Leonard Sawyer, 88, of Rexton passed away peacefully at the Stella Maris Hospital, St. Anne de Kent on Tuesday, June 7th, 2011. Born in Rexton he was the son of the late Eugene and late Annie (LeBlanc) Jaillet. Before retiring, Leonard owned and operated Cecile’s Restaurant in Rexton for many years. He was also a taxi driver and school bus driver. Leonard was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Rexton Lion’s Club. He was a volunteer firefighter, avid curler, card player, played hockey and loved sports. Leonard served overseas in the Royal Canadian Army during WW II in the Northshore Regiment. Leonard will be sadly missed by his daughter; Anne Dwyer (Peter) of Miramichi, two grandchildren; Shawn (Cindy) of Saint John and Ryan of Moncton, several nieces and nephews and special friends; Garnett and Irene Sawyer. Leonard was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by five sisters; Alma, Alice, Liza, Eugenie, Gertie, three brothers; Ben, Adelin and Léonce.
Resting at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto with visitation on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, Saturday at 9:00 am until departure for the funeral. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 11th, 2011 at 11:00 am, Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Rexton. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
