TODD – Ernest (Dick) Todd passed away May 8, 2011, with family by his side at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. He was born on March 8, 1920, in Gull Lake, SK. Dick attended school in Bloomville but quit at an early age to help his father, Art Todd, with the farm. In June 1947, Dick married Edith Brown, also from the Verlo district. They lived their entire life farming and ranching on the original homestead just west of Verlo. Dick and Edith had seven children: two daughters – Lorraine (John) Ramer, New Hamburg, ON, Rita (Eric) Peterson, High River, AB, Glenn, Jerry (JoAnn). Dick also had the pleasure of sharing his life with 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Dick enjoyed being a counselor for the R.M. of Pittville for eight years. He also had a Lifetime Membership with the Saskatchewan Stockgrowers and was a member of Wool Growers Association, Dick loved music and dancing and especially loved old time fiddle music. He enjoyed visiting with extended family, neighbours and friends. One of is favorite pastimes was working in his yard and garden. Everyone enjoyed his many Christmas lights. Dick will be forever missed by his family and his wife Edith. He is also survived by his sister Connie (Gull Lake, KS) and brother Gordon (Grande Prairie, AB). Dick was predeceased by his parents (Art and Elsie); sister (Olive); brother (John); sons (Russell and Glenn); grandson (Riley); and great grandson (Tanner). A celebration of Dick’s life was held at the Hazlet Community Hall followed by a private graveside service t the Tompkins Cemetery. It would be appreciated by the family if any donations were made to the Hazlet Hall or Tompkins Cemetery. Dick will remain forever in our hearts.
