SNOOKS, Frederick Edward Alfred \"Fred\' – 78. Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Friday morning November 7, 2008 at the family home in Dartmouth. Fred was the dearly beloved husband of Violet (Williams) Snooks. He was the loving father of Joe (Shelley) Snooks, Bob (Marlene) Snooks, Fred (Jackie) Snooks, Anne (Bob) Hopper, Sharon Snooks, Sue (Chris) Barnes, Nancy Snooks. He was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchilden, dear brother of Joseph (Sharon) Snooks, Minnie Dunne, Phyllis (Hayden) Martz. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Pearl (Percy) Snooks, brother Percy Snooks. Fred was born and raised in Newfoundland and at the age of 19 he left to join the Navy where he served for 31 years with pride, attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. He was a member of the Canadian Naval Air Group and a member of the Centennial Legion Branch #160. Fred was well known for his joke telling, but better known for laughing at his own jokes. He was also a founding member of the Olde Colony Social Club and his love of music was always a very important part of his life. A memorial service was held on Monday, November 10 at 11 a.m. in Woodlawn United Church, 54 Woodlawn Rd. Dartmouth. Burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
