He was predeceased by his parents Albert (Bert) & Marie, three sisters Marie Egeland of Kyle, Evelyn Sannerud of Robin Hood, & Ruth Swanson of Vancouver, as well as two brothers Aubrey of Calgary and Jimmy (in infancy) along with many sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Red was also predeceased by his only daughter Janet Stipchick of Edmonton in 1979. Red was born in Tuberose, SK on Sept 27, 1922. He attended school at Leyton and Kyle Schools. He married Margo Greenstien on Sept 27th, 1949. He lived his whole life in Kyle, travelling a little but always content to return to him was the only home he needed. Red and his lifelong friend Keith Cates had the Dray Business in Kyle for a few years and then chose farming as a career and took over his fathers homestead in 1952 selling it in 1987. He was caretaker of the Kyle Skating Rink for a few winters with another lifetime friend Rusty Bird as well as Stan Knox, Red Davies and Archie Lowe. In 1959 he began driving School Bus, a job he enjoyed very much for over 30 years. Many an anecdote, cute story, rhyme, or joke told or experienced by one of the students was repeated with much laughter at the Elderton dinner table. Whenever one of his passengers past or present acknowledged him with a "Hi Red" and a wave it always brought a smile to his face and a twinkle to his eye. Red loved to watch hockey and baseball, on TV was fine but the Kyle Teams was better. He was a faithful supporter of all the local teams and his presence at the Kyle Sportsplex will be missed. Red also had a love of music, listening to it as well as playing guitar and other instruments, he played in a band for a few years at the local dances. He will be fondly remembered by many for his antics on the dance floor at a house party, or some of the other establishments in Kyle and surrounding area. Many will also recall many of the songs he sang most of which were never heard on the radio or available on record. It was a very sad day for all of us in 2007 when his failing health forced us to place him in the Kyle Health Center. No one found it harder to accept than he did and try as hard as they might the wonderful staff nor anyone else could very seldom get him to show that wonderful sense of humour he had. Red was a kind, warm and generous person who always pulled for the underdog. He loved to tease especially with young kids and they always seemed to enjoy his company. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, uncle, & friend and he will be sadly missed by any and all who's lives he touched. Warren's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
