Peacefully, surrounded by family at the Palliative Care Unit, Prince Edward Home on Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, of Mr. Matthew Murphy of Charlottetown and formerly of Stanley Bridge and Waterford, Ireland, age 82 years. He is survived by the love of his life, Ruth (Dalton) Murphy, and his loving and caring children, Sheila (Kip Rosvold), Edmonton, Alta., Nora (Malcolm Shaw), Summerside, Mary Anne (Alastair) Gilliland, Cochrane, Alta., Brendan, Prince George, B.C., Matthew, Edmonton, Alta., Moyna (Jamie) Matheson, Summerside, four loving grandchildren, Meahgan Murphy, Jason Johnston, Elizabeth Matheson and Sean Matheson, his sister, Sheila Murphy, Ireland, sisters-in-law, Eileen Murphy and Maigread Murphy, both of Ireland, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Denis and Mary (Keane) Murphy, brothers, Denis and Tom, sisters, Mary (Frank) Madders and Nell (John) Lynch. Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until Monday afternoon then transferred to St. Dunstan’s Basilica for funeral mass at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown.
