It is with deep sorrow that we, the family of Gertrude MacPherson, announce her peaceful passing on Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck.
Born in Little Pond she was the daughter of the late Freeman and Ethel Dawe.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, William MacPherson; her children, whom she loved dearly, Brenda, Billy (Irene), Sandra (Gibby), Marty (Sophia) and George (Connie), her grandchildren, whom she adored, Billy, Craig, Lindsay, Carl, Amanda, Rachael, Crystal, Sierra; and great-granddaughter, Nevaeh. Also surviving are her brothers Heck (Rose) and Jack (Sally); her sisters Nellie, Cavel, Muriel (Chester), Irene (Nick) and Theresa ‘Teecee’.
She was predeceased by her brother Gerald.
Gertrude lived in Ontario for a number of years and returned home following her retirement.
Visitation Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Bras d’Or Hall.
Gertrude was a beautiful lady who loved her family and she touched the hearts of all who were fortunate to meet her over the years.
