Gallant
The death occurred at the Summerset Manor Summerside of Mary Edna (nee Arsenault), beloved wife of the late Joseph C. Gallant of Abrams Village at the age of 99 years. She was born on May 17, 1912, the daughter of the late Roseline Arsenault and Emmanuel Arsenault and she was the last surviving member of her family. She was the dear, devoted and much loved mother of 11 children: Elva (Alfred) Arsenault of Miscouche; Peter (Donna Elmy) Gallant of Belleville, Ont.; Edward (Nora Brown) Gallant of Abrams Village; Louise (late Douglas) Blanchard of Summerside; Leonce Gallant of Abrams Village; Sr. Anna Gallant ( Franciscan ) of Montreal; Helene Gallant of Abrams Village; Alice (Pierre) Chabot of Val d’Or, P.Q.; Yvonne Powers (Earl) of Summerside. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters as well as her sisters-in-law Rita (Eddy) Arsenault, Delina (late Leo) Gallant and brothers-in-law Theodore Gallant as well as several cousins, nephews and nieces. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by one granddaughter, one great grandson, her brothers and sisters. Ovilda (late Josephine) Arsenault, Edward (late Rosina) Arsenault, Marie Louise (late Amedee) Gallant, Marguerite (late Eric) Arsenault and Anna (late Amand) Arsenault. She was also predeceased by her in-laws, late Cyrus and Melanie Gallant, her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, several cousins, nephews and nieces. Resting at the Evangeline Funeral Home until Monday June 13, 2011 then to Saint Philippe and Saint Jacques Church for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday June 12, 2011 at 2-4 and 7-9. Interment in Church cemetery. Donations to the Summerset Manor or PCHF.
