Hinton: Ira Foster, Truro, surrounded by his family, it is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Ira Hinton, 79. Ira was the son of the late Harry and Rose (Blois) Hinton. He was retired from Stanfield’s Limited, where he worked for 49 years. Ira always loved to chat with neighbors and share a wave to passers by. Ira is survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis (Walsh); only child, Cathy Joy, Truro; beloved grandson, Adam (Fiancé, Jessica Allen), Truro; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by all his siblings, brothers, Marshall, George, Archibald; sisters, Lydia (Mrs. Rubin Campbell), Clara (Mrs. Amatore Dejoya), Emma (Mrs. Edward Currie), Georgina (Mrs. Elmer Hughes), Lillian (Mrs. William Fielding). There will be no visitation by request. Funeral service will be held 2pm Thursday, September 10, at the Brunswick Street United Church Truro, under the direction of the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, with Rev. David Lutes officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will then be held in the Robie Street Cemetery Truro. Donations may be made to the Brunswick Street United Church, the Red Cross, VON or a charity of your choice.
