It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jessie Andrews, on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility.
She lived with her ‘special’ niece Diane Andrews and Diane’s daughter Katie on St. Peters Road for 13 years, then at My Cape Breton Home for Seniors for five years.
Jessie was born in Sydney, and was the daughter of the late Albert and Catherine (MacIssac) Andrews.
She is survived by her son, Joe Parago (Patsy); granddaughter, Theresa (Robert) Rose, great-grandchildren, Jamie, Victoria and Morgan Rose, and daughter, Mary (Bill) Keeping. Jessie is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Andrews.
Jessie was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by sisters, Mary (Fred) Bourgeois, Theresa Andrews, Kay (Shorty) Power and brothers, Edward (Gladys), and Allan ‘Jeep’.
During her life she worked at Snow White Laundry and St. Rita’s Hospital. She was very dedicated to her parents, having cared for both of them during lengthy illnesses. Jessie’s faith in God guided her throughout her life journey and she was a dedicated and faithful member of Holy Redeemer parish. She was a wonderful aunt to her many nieces and nephews and she will be dearly missed, especially her friendly greeting of “Hi Luvy†to everyone she met.
Visitation will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church with Rev. Errol MacDonald officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Redeemer Parish Building Fund or the Cape Breton Cancer Centre.
