DAVIS, Dorothy Evangeline, 90, of Welshtown. Mom passed away peacefully on Monday, June 6, 2011 in the comforting presence of her caregivers at Roseway Hospital. She was born in Shelburne to the late Victor and Berthaliah (Goulden) Brent and grew up in Jordan Ferry. Mom was taken out of school at the age of twelve and sent to work cooking, cleaning and caring for others. She excelled at cooking and there was never a shortage of good food and homemade pies on mom’s table. She was known for her generosity and shared whatever she had with her friends and neighbours. She was widowed at a young age and left with three small children to care and provide for until she remarried. When dad lived, Mom loved playing 45s and together they spent many evenings playing with their friends or at card parties. Mom enjoyed social outings and the many people she met on her nightly visits to Tim’s. She never missed a variety show and enjoyed tapping her toes to the music. Mom received hours of pleasure on the phone and could often be found talking to one of her many friends she called daily. She leaves to mourn her children, Marie (Dale) MacCrae, Scotsburn; Judson (Jerene) Ringer, Moose Jaw; Ronald (Sharon) Ringer, Dartmouth and Martha (Dale) Holmes, Welshtown; brother, Victor (Joan) Brent; sister in-law, Lottie Rollison; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. She also leaves to mourn her best friend, Marg Williams who she said was like a second sister to her. She was predeceased by her first husband, Judson Ringer; second husband, Leander (Lee) Davis; her loving granddaughter Rhonda Lynn Ringer, sister Marie Bower and brother Lockie Brent. The funeral service was held on Saturday, June 11, in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, with Reverend Ed Trevors officiating. Interment was in Welshtown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimers Unit, Roseway Manor. On-line condolences may be sent to: hmhuskilson@ns.aliantzinc.ca or you may sign the guest book at: www.huskilson.net
