January 13, 1947 - June 9, 2011

It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, husband, father and friend, Chuck Gourlay. In the early morning of June 9, 2011 he peacefully passed in the comfort of his own home.

He is survived by his devoted and forever loving wife Judy, daughter Shannon (Jeremy), son Jason, brother Dave (Norma), sister Blanche (Stan), sister Judy (John), brother Don (Leanne), brother Ken (Barb) and his granddaughters Lily and Finn for whom he always had a smile and a song.

Beyond his devotion and love for his family and friends, he had a great love for the outdoors. From waterskiing to snow skiing, pond hockey to canoeing, Chuck was an enthusiast for all seasons and enjoyed those activities most when they were shared with his family. Chuck also enjoyed mentoring and teaching others in organized sports both at the schools at which he taught and in the community.

Once his children had grown, so did his time for and love of playing and performing music: the acoustic guitar and electric bass took as much time as he could afford. He was also a man who, without thought or hesitation, would help any number of family and friends with their latest project. He had a great talent for building, from a deck to an entire home and "chalet". His commitment to sport, community, music, friends and family will be forever missed.

All are invited to share in a Celebration of a great man's life on Friday, June 24, 2011 at Interior Savings Centre in the Parkside Lounge from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
