It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful, wife, mother and friend. Mary Sharon Canary, age 68, of Glace Bay, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late John and Kathleen (Murphy) Redmond.
Mary was a member of Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay.
She graduated from St. Anne’s High School, Glace Bay.
She was formerly employed at the Cape Breton Post in both Glace Bay and Sydney. Mary loved to bowl and for many years bowled at Knox Lane.
Mary will be sadly missed by her husband, Ron; son, Bernie (Sherry), Brampton, Ont.; sisters, Sally Redmond, Massachusetts, Anne Stuart, Massachusetts, Ruth Pezzariello, Bedford, Audrey O’Neill, Glace Bay. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by sisters, Paula, Jackie, brothers, Peter, Bernie and Frank.
In honouring Mary’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A private family service and interment will take place at a later date.
