Leocadia Stengler of Pioneer Lodge in Moose Jaw formerly of Mankota, Sask. passed away peacefully on September 3, 2009 at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her husband Wendel, grandson Tyler Munn, sisters, Elenora Stengler and Josephine Pare, brothers, Father Lawrence Folk and Leo Folk. Leocadia was born in the Billimun District, Sask. on October 6, l920. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Pinto Dale School. She married Wendel Stengler on April 7, l942 in Billimun. They farmed until l977 when they retired in Mankota. Leocadia was very active in the church and was a lifetime member of the CWL. She enjoyed gardening (flowers), knitting and sewing for all the family. She made sure that she always had everyone’s favourite treat on hand when they visited. She was a very hard working, generous, and thoughtful person who will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family: Richard (Olga) Sylvia (Tom) Englot; Lawrence (Sheila), Rita (Morley) Munn, Cecile (Dan) Bourassa, Pete (June) and Lucy (Gary)Robbins; fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one great- great-child; one brother Carl (Nettie) Folk; two sisters Lynn Butler and, Hilda Rohloff; one sister-in-law Emma Folk and one brother-in-law Balzer (Mildred) Stengler; numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Prayers are being held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. East in Moose Jaw, on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 11, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Albert’s Roman Catholic Church, Mankota, with Father Vargis officiating. Interment will take place in the Billimun Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
