It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father and grandfather, on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
James was born in Upper Grand Mira, the son of the late Dougald and Sarah Jane (Currie) MacDonald.
He was a member of St. Mary’s parish, East Bay.
He was a longtime employee of CN Railway as a car inspector, retiring in 1984.
James was dedicated to Grand Mira and made many trips to the family homestead whenever time allowed.
James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Florence (MacInnis); two sons, Doug (Anne), Mississauga, Ont., John (Monica), Etobicoke, Ont.; three daughters, Margaret (Gordon) MacDonald, Tantallon, N.S., Denise (Dr. Tim) Haswell, Fredericton, N.B., Jane (Patrick) Lacey, Newcastle, Ont.; four grandchildren, James and Hannah MacDonald, Robert and Michael Haswell; two sisters, Mary Hopkins, Toronto, Ont., Kaye (Joseph) Graham, Roslindale, Mass.; and James Alexander

Visitation for James MacDonald will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Thursday from 5-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay, with Rev. Frank Abbass officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Donations to the VON, Palliative Care or St. Mary’s Building Fund.
