Margaret Sweet

SWEET, MARGARET - With family by her side, Margaret Sweet passed away on Saturday, June 17th at Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital. She was born in Sussex, NB, on August 13, 1957, to parents, Ralph and Millicent(Pugh) Sweet who both predeceased her. She is survived by sisters, Susan (Curtis) Saunders, Brockway, and Debbie (Rich) Maston, Rusagonis, and a brother Bill, Harvey Lake. She is also survived by her nieces, Julie (Corey) Stewart, Rothesay and Joanna (Scott) Morse, Moncton. She also leaves behind her beloved great niece and great nephew, Olivia and Griffin Stewart, and soon to be, great niece, Georgia Morse as well as, her faithful companions, Hidey and Peter, her cats. Margaret graduated from Fredericton High School then NBCC, Moncton, as a Civil Engineering Technologist: Architectural Program. She began work in the private sector, moving on to Calgary and then returning to the province where she worked for the Provincial government, first at Schools Building Branch and then, Supply and Services, eventually focusing on the Roofing Program. She sat on boards for various professional organizations and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. Margie’s life has always involved a joy in searching-for happiness, awareness and challenge. In her last years she achieved these goals on a daily basis. She tackled that which had been insurmountable and she was victorious! She canoed downriver, took up
golfing, hiked trails around Pocologan and Marysville and swam with dolphins. She developed friendships that renewed and vitalized her. She embraced life long learning and formed strong, certain life philosophies. Her creative sense yearned to reflect beauty; first with photography and later with her wondrous painting. She sought a fusion of life and her spirit and, even, in her later days, she created for herself a healing drum and enjoyed the spirituality of drumming ceremonies.
At Margaret’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A memorial will be announced at a later date. It was also her request that memoriams may be made to a Scholarship Fund that has been established in her name by the New Brunswick Roofing Contractors Association Inc. of New Brunswick, for a student attending NBCC in the Civil Engineering Technology: Architectural Program, or to the Oncology Unit at DECH, Fredericton. The family would like to acknowledge the loving care, visits and concern offered by her many friends-both near and far, coworker friends, neighbors and hospital staff. This made her final days memorable. “I choose to be happy!” -Margaret Sweet Online condolences can be made at www.mcadamsfh.com, 458-9170.
