Joe died peacefully at home on August 28, 2009.
He was the son of the late A.J. and Sally MacDonald of Sydney Forks.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Sutherland), Halifax; son, Stuart (Anna); granddaughters, Lauren and Claire of Toronto, ON, as well as his sister, Jeanne (Jim) Neville of Dartmouth and brother, Hector (Dena) of Sydney River.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Margie LeBlanc and brother, John.
A memorial service has taken place in Halifax.
