Walter Henry Koshman
Former Laguna Woods resident Walter “Wally” Henry Koshman, 78, succumbed to an aggressive brain tumor, passing on August 23, 2009, at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, CA. In attendance were long time friends Harold and Sharon Fischer and immediate family. The Service will be held Saturday, September 12th, 3:00 pm at Mariners Chapel, Irvine, California, with reception to follow at Tuscany Mediterranean Grill, Irvine, Ca. Private family interment will take place on Sunday. Wally was born January 21, 1931 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Michael Koshman. He was predeceased by his wife Dolores Roberta Koshman (d. 09/24/85) and son, Brent Koshman (d. 07/18/89). He is survived by his sister Joanne Flatekval, his brother Bobby Koshman, his daughters De’Ann Clark and Janice Brunette, and his granddaughter Jenna Brunette. A graduate from the University of Saskatchewan in early 1950, Mr. Koshman arrived in California in 1961. As President/CEO of Anaconda Real Estate Investment Trust, one of the original REITs, Mr. Koshman contributed to the building of 26 All State Insurance corporate offices nationwide, was an active participant in the development of Orange County as a builder; constructing 19 residences, 2 churches and directing the structural steel erection on commercial facilities in the Newport Beach area. Mr. Koshman felt pride in being one of the original board members of Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa. Over the past 14 years of his life, Mr. Koshman actively held the position of Operations Advisor to T.R.E.O, Irvine, CA.
