Grant Walter Mackenzie

Mackenzie, Grant Walter, 45, Truro, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, June 22, 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Truro, he was the son of Floyd and Helen (Stiles) Mackenzie. He had a wonderful life with family and friends who surrounded him with love and support. His love for his girls kept him strong and able to face each day. He was employed with the Chignecto Central Regional School Board as a custodian, before his illness. Grant had many interests, some of which were his love of old cars, dabbling in real estate, carpentry, fishing and hunting with his friends in his early years. Grant was someone who, in times of difficulty, could make anyone laugh; his sense of humor was truly contagious. Grant was a courageous and brave man who lived life to the fullest. When we asked him if he would watch over us he said “absolutely. He was gonna be Head Angel as soon as he got there”. Besides his parents Grant is survived by his wife of 21 years, Marina (Stewart); daughters, Courtney and Mariah; sisters, Charlene (Wayne) Weatherbee, Darlene (Norman) Muise; brothers, Duane (Jolayne), Mike (Lori), all of Truro; parents-in-law, Carson and Glenda Stewart, Truro; brother-in-law, Dana (Kelly) Stewart, Truro, many loved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by grandparents, Harold and Ethel Archibald, Ira Mackenzie, Walter and Edith Stiles. Visitation will be held Friday, June 24th from 6- 9 p.m. with a memorial service, Saturday, June 25th at 1 p.m., all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Sue King Darby officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a College Fund for Courtney and Mariah or the Kidney Foundation – Truro Chapter.
