It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and best friend Anne Stubbard. God called home our gentle but strong mother June 24, 2011 while surrounded by her loving family at the Glace Bay General Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay she was the daughter of the late Laughlin and Gloria (Moffat) McLean, she was a dedicated mother and grandmother to her family and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Glace Bay.
Anne was a very outspoken and witty gal, always trying to make others laugh. She enjoyed her evening outings with her friends dancing at the Glace Bay Legion, spending time with her best friend and sister Tissa, Anne also enjoyed the time spent with her devoted companion Charlie Tavern. She was a very active person with the Glace Bay Little League Ladies Aux. for many years and always enjoyed going to her children’s baseball games
She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Wanda (Calvin) McNeil, Glace Bay, Ida (Joe) O’Reilly, Westmount; sons George (Lori), Davey, Roddy ‘Tub’, all of Red Deer, Craig (Angela), Glace Bay; and their father George Stubbard. She is also survived brothers Davey (Susan), Grand Cache, Bernie (Barb), Glace Bay; sisters and best friend Tissa McNeil, Jean (Terry) Jewels both of Glace Bay; sister-in-law Nancy McLean (Bill); grandchildren Tonya, Nanci-Gayle, Morgan, Calvin, Kelsey, Wyatt, Breton, Paige, Elin; foster grandchildren Whitney and Tristen; special niece Lindsey McNeil and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Ralph; grandsons Braedon and Jarrod Stubbard; close friends Myrna O’Connell and Linda Devison.
Visitation for Anne Stubbard will be held Sunday, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating, interment will take place in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church basement, all are welcome.
