JACOBS, HELEN LESLIE - The death of Helen Leslie Jacobs of Fredericton NB occurred at Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the age of 83. Born in Woodlands NB, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Nellie (Brewer) Saunders, and wife of the late Edward Jacobs. After completing Business College, Helen worked for the provincial government and then became a homemaker after her marriage in 1951. She was a long time member of Christ Church (Parish) Church, having an active role in many church groups and activities. She was well known for warmly welcoming new parishioners and visitors, and introducing them to others. She is survived by her three children: Karen (Doug) Ketch of Red Deer AB, Nancy (Gary) Kierstead of Coles Island NB, and Peter (Cheryl) Jacobs of Fredericton NB; and seven grandchildren: Jason (Ashley) and Rhonda Ketch; Laura (Josh) McKnight and Heather Kierstead; Emily, Michelle and Mark Jacobs. She is also survived by sisters Dorothy McNeill, Muriel Ashfield, Kathleen Holyoke, Enid Pugh; sisters-in-law Faye and Marjorie Saunders; brother-in-law Frederick (Bonnie) Jacobs and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband and parents, brothers Wilson, Ian, Murray, and Irvine Saunders, and one sister Klyne Wilkins. The family will receive visitors at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 28, from 4 to 7 pm. The funeral service will held at Christ Church (Parish) Church on Wednesday, June 29 at 2 pm with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery following the reception.
