Thomas Taylor passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, palliative care unit, with his niece by his side.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Henry and Mary (Church) Taylor.
Tom was a retired steelworker, a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas in the tank artillery in Italy. Until recently he lived his entire life ‘up the hill on Frederick Street.’ An avid fisherman and hunter, he spent time with his wife Rita down at the bungalow in St. E’Spirit. He was also an avid skater.
He is survived by brother, George; and by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews including Janet Manley, Denise Taylor, Walter MacLeod, of Sydney, Greg Taylor and Brian (Cathy) and Billy (Kay) Targett, of Ontario, Gary (Pauline) Cayman Islands.
Tom was predeceased by his wife, Rita (Targett), brother, Harry and sisters, Alice and Nellie.
There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
