Calabrese, Helen Marie
1918-2011
The death of Helen Marie Calabrese, 93, of Sackville, occurred at the Fundy Royal Manor, Hillsborough, on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Born in Minto, she was a daughter of the late Nathaniel and Rebecca (Higgins) Branscombe.
Following the death of her husband in 1966, Helen came to Sackville in 1968, where she lived until 1992. A kind and generous woman, Helen was a marvelous homemaker, seamstress, and pianist. She devoted much of her time to volunteering, was an active member of the Fort Beausejour Chapter of the IODE, and the Sackville ACW. She was affiliated with St. Paul's Anglican Church, Sackville.
She was a friend to everyone and will always be remembered for her elegance and grace.
Helen will be sadly missed by her daughter Pam MacLean, Antigonish; 3 grandchildren, Nathaniel, Emis and Tobias; two great grandchildren, Faith and Donard; two brothers Harry Branscombe, Chipman and Kenneth (Ruth) Branscombe, Sussex; as well as several nieces and nephews and her very close friend Olga (Donald) Hamm and family.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Edmund.
Helen's arrangements were entrusted into the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B., (364-1300) where visitation was held on Friday, June 24, 2011, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11 a.m. Archdeacon Reginald Stockall officiated. Following the service the burial was held in Minto, N.B., at the St. Michael's Church Cemetery.
Donations in Helen's memory can be made to the IWK Children's Hospital.
