Hoare, Arnold Leslie – 78, Valley, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Williams’ Country Home, Hilden. Born in Maganese Mines, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late William and Ruby (Bartlett) Hoare. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Arnold was known for his love of spending time with his children and grandchildren, his horses, farming and his woodlot. A retiree of the former Nova Scotia Youth Training Centre, Arnold was also caretaker for Giddens Lodge from the time of its establishment. Recognized for his volunteer efforts Arnold also enjoyed working with youth. Arnold is survived by children, Steven (Carol), Beverly (Neil Ripley), Cheryl (Ron Geddes); brothers, Stewart (Geri) and Carl (Velma); grandchildren, Craig (Anna), Shane (Stephanie), Brett, Jarrett, Erica, Kyle, Chad and Kolby. Arnold was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Doreen; infant son, Garth; grandson, Curtis; brother, Albert. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. with funeral service at 2 p.m. all on Monday, July 4, 2011 in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, with Rev. Brian DeLong officiating.
