Glendon Samuel Mills - 93, Coldstream, passed away at home Sunday, September 13, 2009. Born in Amherst on July 13, 1916, he was the son of the late Samuel and Annie Mills. Glen was deeply loved and respected by those close to him for his never ending love and devotion and the strength he provided to his family and the spirit, wisdom, energy and caring character which embodied his life. His physical presence will be deeply missed and he will always live in our hearts. During the Second World War, he served with the Forestry Division in England. He also worked on farms, was a highway foreman, was a mail carrier in Truro for 20 years while managing his own woodlot and building houses. Glen was an avid woodsman and mechanical expert and his love of fixing and inventing things was always appreciated by his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Mary (Reid) and his children; Glenda Mills, Valerie Mills (Will), Sheila Mills (Barry), Elizabeth Thompson (Archie), Pauline Fraser (Rod), William Mills (Heather), Ann Latimer-Mills (Darrell), Leslie Mills (Carrie); grandchildren, Judy, Tiffany, Mindi, Matthew, Jonathan, Catherine, James, Sam, Jessica, Sara, Gena, Nicole, Joellyn, Issac; great-grandchildren, Jules, Justice, Ayziah, Jaleiysa, Aleighna, Genevieve; sisters, Winnie Roy (Don), Connie Payne (Lloyd); brother, Colmer Mills; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife Julie McCullough; brother, Reg Mills and grandson, Jason Spracklin. Cremation has taken place with a private family memorial service to follow. Arrangements entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
