Predeceased by his parents: John & Anne (Cahill); his wife: Mary (Cahill); son: John; brothers: Bill (Clara) & John (Louise); sisters: Mary, Marie (Jim) Walsh, Bertha (Dan) Pittman, Anne (Pat) ONeill; son-in-law: Joe Thorne; nephew: Jim (Wacker) O’Neill and niece: Kathryn Walsh. Left not to mourn but to celebrate his long life are his children: Ed (Patricia), Bertha Thorne, Kieran (Blanche), Eugene (aka Bart) (Marion); daughters-in-law: Mabel McCarthy & Ita McCarthy; his 12 grandchildren: Kelly (Mark) Philpott, Darlene McCarthy, Donna (John) Dinn, Dana McCarthy, Rod (Kelly) McCarthy, Gerard Thorne (Christine Stoyles), John (Tamara) Thorne, Christine McCarthy (Barry Reddy), Ken McCarthy, Michael (Debbie) McCarthy, Ryan McCarthy (Joanne Whelan) & Lisa McCarthy ; 16 Great-grandchildren: Sarah McCarthy, Lenny McCarthy, Chantelle (Pat ) English, Amanda Quinn (Rob Houston), Devinn Dinn, Gage McCarthy, Patrick, Rebecca & Morgan McCarthy, Owen & Liam Thorne, Samantha McCarthy, Lexi, Gabe, Dani & Dominic McCarthy; one great-great-grandchild: Jaden McCarthy; nephew & nieces: Pat ONeil, Anne Marie (Blair) Sibbald and Rita (John) Chidley; His extended family: The Ryan’s of Chapels Cove, Mary, Gordon (Ros), Barb (Bill) Wilson, Gerri (Bren) Lewis, Janet (Brian) Hynes, Eugene (Sue), Paula (Bob) Osbourne, other relatives, friends and special friend Mark O’Brien (Bucko), St. Pats resident. Visitation on Sunday, September 14th, 2009 from 2 to 9 p.m. and at Fahey’s Funeral Home, Fermeuse on Monday, September 14th, 2009 from 2 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, September 15th from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, September 15th, 2009 at 1 p.m. from Holy Apostles Church, Renews. Interment to follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Renews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. Patrick’s Mercy Home or to a charity of one’s choice.
