On Thursday, June 30, 2011, Regina Tommasini passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Pine Grove Lodge, Kamloops.
Regina is survived by her children Bruno (Noreen) of Maple Ridge, Lena (George) of Nanaimo, John (Linda) of Surrey, Elda (John), Vito (Karen) and Dave (Cindie) all of Kamloops. She will be missed by her grandchildren Sheldon, Luke, Murray, Gina, Erin, Nick, Steve, Alex, Anthony, Mark, Brian, Eric, Brandon, Robert and great grandchildren Jack, Isla, Kai and Ethan. She also leaves behind her beloved Pine Grove family where she has resided for the past four years.
Regina was predeceased by the love of her life, Antonio (2009) and two of her children, Vito and Aldo (1954).
Regina was born in Vedelago, Italy in 1920. She married Antonio on Boxing Day 1942 and immigrated to Canada in 1951, two years after her husband. Regina and her four oldest children travelled by boat to Halifax before traveling across Canada on a train where she rejoined Antonio in Kamloops.
Nonna, as she was called by her family, was a stay at home mom who loved to work in her yard. She had a beautiful garden that allowed her to bring fresh flowers to her two sons gravesite every Sunday. She also enjoyed working in her vegetable garden that provided food for all of her friends and family. Nonna loved to bring people together and often made large pasta dinners with all of her children and grandchildren. Those were always our families most memorable moments as Nonna taught us the importance of family.
Regina was always involved in her Church (OLPH) as a CWL and Little Flower Member. She was very passionate about attending church up until her final days. She always had a line of parishioners that greeted her with hugs and kisses at mass. You people really made her day.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Pine Grove Lodge for all they have done for our mother over the past four years. We would also like to thank Dr. Howie for his warmth and compassionate care over the years.
Prayers will be recited at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 635 Tranquille Road.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 7, 2011 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with Reverend Father Peter Nguyen, Celebrant. Following the service, Regina will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery.
