Marie Gertrude Kaye age 83 of Amherst passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan with her loving family by her side.
Born on December 27, 1927 in Baie Verte, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Silas and Rachel (Trenholm) Hamilton.
Marie was a past member of the Highland View Regional Hospital Auxiliary for many years, member of the L.T.B.A. Lodge as well as a member of the First Baptist Church, Amherst. In her younger years she was employed as a Personal Care Worker for twenty two years and later kept busy as a Homemaker.
Marie will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Christine Hicks, Amherst, Sharon (Wayne) Kaye, Sackville, NB, Robert (Elva), Debert, NS, and Kelvin (May), Amherst; brother, Everett, Amherst; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great great grandson; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Gloria Brown; son, Eric; four sisters, Thelma Poirie, Vivian Goodell, Stella Smith and Lillian Hamilton; as well as her brother Earl in infancy.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until funeral service at 2:30 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with Rev. David MacLean officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Baie Verte Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie’s memory may be made to the Diabetic Association or charity of your choice.
