Daniel “Danny” Ross Mantyka
November 28, 1989 – June 30, 2011

Danny passed away suddenly in a tragic plane crash on June 30, 2011. He was born in Campbell River, BC on November 28, 1989, and began his schooling at John Diefenbaker graduating from Carlton Comprehensive High in 2008. Danny was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. The moniker of “Pooh Bear” was a nickname used by many in reference to Danny which he accepted graciously. He was a third year electrician, entering this career after careful consideration that it would be the job for him. Danny and Sara welcomed Lucy into their lives on April 11, 2010. She quickly became the principle focus of their lives. Danny died doing what he loved to do, in a place that he loved to be! He is survived by his fiancé Sara Autet; daughter Lucy; father Lawrence (Kathy Walcer); mother Heather (Wayne) Warnock; brother Michael (Courtney Chagnon); sister Lindsay (Brent Sorenson and his sons Zachery & Nathan); brother Jackson Warnock; maternal grandparents Nicoline Warnock (Doug), Elmer Hilgers (Roseanne Hnidy); paternal grandparents Matilda “Sue” Mantyka; Sara’s parents Kelly & Janice, her brother Thomas Autet and Danny’s dog Rhea; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his grandfather Ernest Mantyka; great grandparents Mary & Steven Stasiuk, Ed & Anne Hilgers, Elizabeth & John Gallant and Peter & Patricia Mantyka. Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 with Mrs. Margaret Ferchuk officiating. Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2011 with celebrant Reverend Father Maurice Fiolleau. Both services will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made in trust to Sara and Lucy. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
