Jean Gordon

(May 11, 1932 - July 2, 2011) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother Jean Gordon, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her husband Douglas “Dewey” Gordon (September 17, 2003), special daughter-in-law Susan Gordon (October 20, 2008) and her special girl Janet Maher (October 20, 2008), as well as six of her brothers and sisters. Leaving to mourn her son Douglas (Trish) and daughters: Kathy (Dan Maher), Beverly Horan and Heather Gordon (Nicholas Hynes), her grandchildren: Travis Maher (Roberta), John-Paul Gordon (Melanie), Danny Maher, Sarah (Jon Williams), Melissa Gordon (Ross Tansley), Chris Horan, Cassandra Horan, and Rebekah Gordon, Great-Grandchildren: Bryanna and Samantha Maher, and Sam Williams. Also leaving to mourn her brother Joe Pearcey (Madeline) and brother-in-law Robert Logan of Langley, B.C. Special friends and neighbours: Shirley Grant, Shirley Rex, the Bemisters, the Fallons, the Heffernans, Jimmy and Mary Oliver, and Jim Trickett, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family. She will also be dearly missed by her teammates at the Plaza Bowl Golden Age Bowling league and her Wednesday night bingo buddies at Knights of Columbus, St. Clare Avenue. Special thanks to Dr. Vickie Martin, Dr. Patrick O’Shea, and R.N. Bonnie Pike for their exceptional care and compassion over the past several months. Our Heartfelt thanks also go out to the staff of the Dominion Pharmacy Stavanger Drive who have always been there with advice and compassion over these difficult months and years, especially Carolyn, Bev, Kim and Tiffany. Donations can be made in Jean’s memory to a charity very dear to her heart, Special Olympics Newfoundland and Labrador. Visitation will be at Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 Lemarchant Road Monday, July 4th from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, July 5th from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held at St. Patrick’s Church, Wednesday, July 6th at 9:30 a.m., with interment to follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
