It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and loving friend, Mary Katherine McInnis, on Saturday, July 9, 2011, at the Northside General Hospital.
Mary was born in Sydney Mines, Dec. 25, 1955, the daughter of the late John and Kay (Lyle) Conway.
Mary is survived by her five children, Sandy (Lisa), Vanessa (Atnas), Miranda (Frank), Patricia (Kevin), Jonathan (Sarah Beth), and their father, Sandy McInnis, all residing at home; the loves of her life, her three grandchildren, Taylor, Cheyenne and Nathan. Mom is also survived by her siblings, Sandy (Anne) Conway, North Sydney, Betty (Joey) Jenkins, Bras d’Or, Herbie (Gail) Conway, Bridgewater, Debbie (Johnny) Paquet, Alberta, Karen Petite, Sydney Mines, Wayne Conway, Ottawa; her sister-in-law, Marguerite Conway, Newfoundland; and her brother-in-law, Doug Rideout, Sydney Mines.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her brother, Johnnie Conway and her sister, Arlene Rideout.
Honoring Mary’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011, with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Cancer Center.
