Alice Margaret Mochilan
Lieu de naissance : Antigonish County, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Lieu de décès : New Waterford, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Alice Margaret Mochilan, 88, of 789 King St., formerly of 89 Emerald St., New Waterford.
Born in Antigonish County, she was a daughter of the late Percy Langille and Hattie (Jack).
Alice was a member of St. Michael’s parish, the New Waterford Ladies Hospital Auxiliary and Cub Scouts of Canada. She also served as a volunteer with the Legion in New Waterford.
Mom’s feisty, independent spirit and love for family and friends will always be remembered. She had an impish sense of humour and pulled many pranks which are revisited often and with much laughter. Mom loved to travel, whether on a drive with dad, across Canada or to foreign lands. Although she left Cape Breton for a time, her heart and memories called her back to Cape Breton. At the age of 85 she ‘came home’.
Surviving are daughter, Ruth Howe, Pincher Creek, Alta.; son, Joseph Mochilan, Ottawa, Ont.; brothers, Bryan Langille, Charlottetown, P.E.I., Percy ‘Bud’ Langille, Truro; sisters, Ethel Halliday, Truro, Shirley Bennett, Truro, Charlotte Everett, West Virginia, USA, Bertha Cormier, Sudbury, Ont.; grandchildren, Craig Howe, Gordon Howe, Jeffery Mochilan, Shauna - Leigh Mochilan.
Besides her parents, Alice was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Mochilan.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A graveside service for family and friends will be held Wednesday, July 13 at 1 p.m. in St. Michael’s Cemetery, River Ryan, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
