STELLARTON - Canisus "Nicky" Margaret Chabassol, 95, of Northwood Terrace Extended Care Facility, Halifax, passed away quietly September 16th, 2009.
Nicky formerly resided at MacKay Street, Stellarton, where she was born, grew up, married and raised a family. In later years she resided on Duke St. and the Birch Street apartments, both in Stellarton.
Born, August 6th, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Ranald and Mary (MacLean) MacDonald.
She was predeceased by her husband, Peter; an infant son, Peter Jr.; brothers: Joe, Morrison, Bill, Charles; and sisters, Ann and Sister Margaret.
Nicky was a lifelong resident of Stellarton and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, a life-time member of the CWL and a member of the Charismatic Movement in Lourdes. Nicky was an employee of the Goodman Co. Ltd. in her earlier years and later studied and worked as a practical nurse in the New Glasgow area. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #28, Stellarton, and was the recipient of an Award for Dedicated Service to the Seniors Help Line in Riverton.
Nicky is survived by her three children: Ronald (Janet Babineau) Chabassol, Bedford, NS; Mary (Bill) Martell, Barrie, ON; and Phyllis (Joe) Boudreau, Dover, New Hampshire, USA. She was loved and will be dearly missed by her grandchildren and families: Andrew and Christopher Chabassol (Crystal) Tammy and Pamela Martell; Paul (Adrienne) Peter (Mehgan Jeffers) and David Boudreau (Elene Lampros) and Angela (Boudreau) Hallam (Tobey). She was blessed to have known her great-grandchildren: Ayla and Ryan Chabassol and Dylan Boudreau.
A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date.
