It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Sarah MacLean on Monday, July 11, 201, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Ann (Currie) Gouthro.
Mom was a member of St. Mary’s parish, Frenchvale. Sarah had a great sense of humour and enjoyed life. Her pride and joy were her family.
Sarah is survived by her children, Wayne (Darlene), Marilyn, Mary, all of Sydney, Kevin, Ontario, Marie (Craig), Sydney, Bernadette (Leigh) Derry, Halifax, Catherine (Charlie), Sydney; the father of her children, Sandy MacLean; 13 grandchildren, Stephen, Krista, Terri-Lynn, Matthew, Dereck, Andrew, Michelle, Nina, Mitchell, Cassidy, Katherine, Kevin and Jermaine as well as he five great-grandchildren, McKenna, Madison, Gabrielle, Carmen and Taylor. She is also survived by her siblings, Jenny, Gertrude, Patsy, Frankie, Kay, Annie, Hilda, Monica, May, Anne Marie, Tom and Dan as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Sheila Francine in infancy, brothers, Michael Gregory, John Alfred and Peter Jerome in infancy.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 13 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will take place at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 14 at St. Mary’s Church, Frenchvale, with Fr. Paul Abbass officiating. Interment to follow in church cemetery.
