(October 31, 1943 - September 16, 2009) – Passed away peacefully on September 16, 2009 at the Leonard A. Miller Centre, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer which he fought with strength and determination, Bob Healey, age 65 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his beloved and devoted wife Sylvia (nee Turpin); daughters Lynn and Karen (Andrew Bruce) and his very special grandson Oliver, who was the light of his life. Also left to mourn his dear and special cousins Mike O’Keefe (Gloria), Robert O’Keefe (Marilyn), Michael Healy (Rosemary), Brian Healy (Cathy), Tom Healy (Cathy), Eleanor Winter (Steve), Greg Healy and the extend Healey, Healy and O’Keefe families. Loved and remembered by Sylvia’s family: Laura (Cyril), Betty (Norm), Marie, Earl (Jose), Leo, Pat (Wayne), Marg (Dan); his nieces, nephews, cousins and the extended Turpin family. Predeceased by his mother and father, Catherine (Kitty) and Joe Healey and mother and father-in-law Rose and Randell Turpin. Bob touched the lives of many close friends who have been exceptionally special to him throughout his life and these friends brought great joy, friendship and support to he and Sylvia. A very special and loving thank you to Helen Lawlor and Cathy Healy for all their love, support, care and friendship for many years, but especially over the past few weeks. Bob’s family also wishes to thank Dr. P.K. Ganguly, Dr. Robert Woodland, Dr. Brett Thompson, Dr. Ken Burrage, Dr. Tom Smith, Dr. Pat Gullane, Dr. Ralph Gilbert and the nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit, the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Clinic, 4 East of St. Clare’s Hospital and 4NA of the HSC for their care and support. Friends and family will be welcomed at the visitation taking place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Friday, September 18, 2009 from 10-12, 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Patrick’s Church on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
