Allen, Donald Patrick — 64, of Upper Falmouth, Hants County, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011 in the QE II Health Sciences Centre infirmary site. Born on May 24, 1947 in Halifax, he was the son of the late Harold Francis and Violet (Turner) Allen. In Donald’s early years he worked for Farmer’s Dairy for three years then he was employed by Nova Scotia Power Inc. for 25 years. During that time, he upgraded his education at Mt. Saint Vincent University and eventually gained the position of head of Human Resources as project manager before retirement. In his spare time he was an avid antique collector and enjoyed going to yard sales. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, brother and uncle who really loved spending time cooking for all of his family. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, the former Brenda Yeadon; son, Kenneth (Crystal) of Upper Falmouth; daughters, Christine Allen (Stanley Smith) of Chester, and Heather (Michael Miles) of Kentville; grandchildren, Donald, Tiffany, Robert, Victoria, Nicole, Cadence and Violet; brother, Harold Spencer (Carole); sister, Judith Anne (Paul) Duncan; niece, Karen; and nephews, Andrew, Shawn and Douglas. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold Francis and Violet Edna; infant brother, Owen; and nephew, Daniel. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011 and 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday July 4, 2011 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral mass was 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 339 King Street, Windsor. Father Michael Walsh officiated. Interment was in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Wiley Avenue, Windsor. Donations in memory may be made to any charity and would be greatly appreciated.
