With deepest sorrow, the family announces the passing of Peter deWitte, 62. Pete passed away suddenly Saturday, July 10, 2011 at the QE II Hospital, Halifax.
Pete was born Oct. 8, 1948, in the Netherlands. He began his career with the Canadian Air Force. He was employed for many years as a radar technician in the Northwest Territories. He was employed with Stream International for five years. Most recently, Pete was employed as a computer programmer with Copol International Ltd., Sydport.
Pete loved playing with his grandchildren, computers, gardens, health foods and fine wine. He enjoyed working on home projects and reading.
Pete will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Jane (MacKay) deWitte; sons, Earl MacKay (Shelly), Dominion, Peter (Paula), Truro; daughter, Jane Catharina deWitte (Randy), Windsor; cherished grandchildren, Michael, Shalyn and Jessie MacKay, Dominion, Christopher deWitte, Dominion, Angelina Paige deWitte, Truro; stepmother, Shirley deWitte, New Brunswick; sister, Alice Bateson, Toronto; brother, Emil Janson, Ontario; stepsisters, Catherine and Nancy; stepbrother, Lorre. Pete will also be dearly missed by his puppies Keisha and Sandy.
Pete was predeceased by parents, Jan and Catherina deWitte, brother, Jerry deWitte, daughter, Angelina deWitte.
Family visitation only will take place at V. J. McGillivray Funeral Home at 4 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2011. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
