CUMMING, Eva Gladys Dexter – 99, The Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro, formerly of Nova Drive, Truro, passed away peacefully, Tuesday evening, July 12, 2011, at The Mira. Born March 1, 1912, in Quinan, Yarmouth County, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Caroline (Hatfield) Dexter. Mom was known for her love of gardening and her beautiful flower gardens. She was an avid reader, knitter and in her younger years made quilts. She was last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived by her daughter, Laurelyn (Donald) Hines, Truro; granddaughter, Laurie Dale Hines, Truro; grandson, Duane Hines, Dartmouth; great grandson, Cory Hines, Truro; numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lic. Lawrence William Cumming (1987); granddaughter, Deanna Dawn Perkins (2009); two sisters; four brothers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Eva’s family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m., today, July 14, 2011, and where the funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 15, 2011, Pastor Judy Adams officiating. Interment to follow in Robie Street Cemetery. Flowers or donations in Eva’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
