Vernon Chute
Age 72, of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, formerly of Kentville, passed away Friday, September 18, 2009 in Charlottetown. Born in Pereaux, Kings County, he was a son of the late Byard and Evelyn (Fox) Greene. He attended Horton Academy and Acadia University, Wolfville, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. His spent his working career with Health Canada in the Health Protection Branch in Halifax, retiring after 37 years of service. He was an active member of the Baptist Churches in Halifax and Kentville and served on various boards and committees. He is survived by his wife, Florence (Stewart); one daughter, Andrea (Garth) Slysz; three grandchildren, Joshua, Luke, Katherine; one son, Alan (Elizabeth) Greene; three brothers, Carrol (Ont), Clayton (Greenwich), Sheldon (Kentville). Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville and there will be no visitation, by family request. A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2009 in the Kentville United Baptist Church, Reverend John McNally officiating. A private family committal service will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory of Vernon may be made to the Kentville United Baptist Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.
