
Margaret Forbes
Margaret Gordon Forbes, 80, of the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, and formerly of Lyons Brook, passed away July 13, 2011 in the home.
Born in Trenton, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Victoria (MacDonald) MacKay.
A Registered Nurse, Margaret trained at the Aberdeen, and worked at hospitals in Antigonish, Truro, and Tatamagouche. She also worked with the V.O.N., and for 10 years owned and operated Forbes Nursing Home in Lyons Brook. Away from work Margaret loved to travel. She enjoyed attending horse shows, hand crafts, swimming, skating, and fishing. Most of all she loved her kids and grandkids, and also her dog, Zoe.
She is survived by her husband, Howard MacKay ‘Kay’ Forbes; children: Bruce (Joann), Wilmot; Robert (Darlene), Lyons Brook; Paul (Trina), Bayhead; Barbara (Bruce), Smokey Lake, Alberta; Tony (Monique), George’s River; daughter-in-law, Faye, Lower Sackville; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Anna Marie MacKay, Trenton.
She was predeceased by a son, Gordon; sister, Jeanie; and brother, Hughie.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
No flowers by request. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
