Olla Hughena MacNeill, age 72, of Stellarton, N.S., passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. A native of Barney’s River, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Helen (Fraser) Johnston. She resided for periods in Halifax, Fredericton, Dartmouth, New Glasgow and Charlottetown until taking up residence in Stellarton in 1990. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in New Glasgow. She enjoyed golfing with her friends at the Abercrombie Golf Club for 20 years as well as her involvement with bridge groups and the New Glasgow Gyrettes. She was a longtime member of the Canadian Kennel Club and for a number of years, showed her dogs in both confirmation and obedience trials. She will be greatly missed by her present Sheltie “Skye Marshall”. She is survived by her beloved husband Gordon MacNeill and was in the process of making arrangements for a reception on August 19 to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. She is also survived by: daughter Nancy (Andrew) Campbell and their children Scott, Nicholas and Alexa of Dartmouth; son John (Carolyn) and his children Jennifer and Jessica of Dartmouth/Halifax; sisters Margaret (Jim) Delgarno, Kelowna; Evelyn, Halifax; Shirley (the late Len) McIntosh, Burnaby; Beverley (Bryan) Williams, Barney’s River Station; Marion (Greg) Fraser, Halifax; brothers Robert (Eleanor), New Glasgow; Hector (Ann), Halifax. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial will be in Kenzieville Cemetery. Family flowers only.
