Passed peacefully away on Monday, July 18, 2011 at Placentia Health Centre, aged 90 years, Matilda Mary Howard of Freshwater formerly of Argentia. Matilda is predeceased by her husband Jerome Howard; her parents James and Mary Ellen; her sisters Ida O’Leary, Clara Roach, Mary Davis, Margaret McGrath, Catherine McGrath and Cecilia Duke; and her brothers John, Richard and James McGrath. Left with fond and loving memories are her sons Gerard (Laura), James (Sheila) and Mike; her daughters Genevieve Pitcher (Clyde) and Joan Howard; her grandchildren Shane and Gerrianne Howard, Jason, Jamie, and Kerry Howard, Jonathan Howard and Julia Kawamoto, Leah, Lori and John Pitcher; her great-grandchildren Kailey Kerrivan, Mya and Emily Pitcher, and Seamus Howard. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Ann McGrath of Freshwater, her sister-in-law Anne Lawlor of St. Thomas, her brother-in-law Francis Duke of St. John’s; and a large circle of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Resting at Maher’s Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation on Monday, July 18 from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20 from Holy Rosary Church, Freshwater.
