Mark Donald MacLean passed away Sunday, July 17 in Ottawa at the Queensway-Carleton hospital after a long tough struggle with cancer. The Lord summoned him moments after his re-baptism by Pastor Robin Pifer. Mark was born in 1963 at the Civic hospital in Ottawa to prideful parents Lorne and Lois and brother Roy. He rounded out a foursome for a military family that was required to move from place to place all too frequently. Mark went to public school in Germany, Ontario, B.C. and Manitoba and then on to the University of Ottawa. In 1994 Mark married Gita Azarshahi, the “Love-of-His Life”. They were blessed by two great children, Sean Lorne in 1996 and Tessa Azar in 1998. Also surviving him are his parents, his brother, father-in-law Mahmood, mother-in-law Amy, brothers-in-law Ata and Af (Sean), sister-in-law Geety, niece Isabelle and nephew Justin, Ata’s children, Sara Kean and Ata’s wife Holly. Mark loved technology all his life. He worked at Bell-Northern Research, Nortel, and GENBAND on numerous projects. During this time he had leadership roles in Ottawa, China and Turkey. His career ended as a Senior Director at GENBAND. The outpouring of love and admiration forthcoming reflect the amazing man that he was. A memorial service for Mark will be held on Friday July 22 at Cedarview Alliance Church (www.cedarview.ca) at 11 a.m. A reception will follow. Everyone is invited to come and celebrate Mark’s life.
